Improvement

Editor: It is now possible to override the StandardShaderGUI with a user defined version (by dropping a modified copy of StandardShaderGUI.cs into the project)
Editor: Optimization of Hierarchy Window
Mac OS X Editor: Finished builds will be shown in OS X notification center when in the background.
Version Control: Add shortcut for submit and cancel in submit dialog. Default keyboard focus to textarea when opening submit window.

Fixes

2D: Fixed sprite importing regression which caused sprite references to be lost on texture rename.
Android: Fixed application hanging and crashing when trying to close the IME with the back button.
Editor: Fix null ref in AudioMixer when undoing
Editor: Fixed “ArgumentException: Invalid path” error that might occur with some custom windows
Editor: Fixed assert when loading scene containing reference to one of its objects that no longer exist.
Editor: Fixed custom PropertyDrawer being called with wrong SerializedProperty when property is inside a nested class.
Editor: Fixed property list in Animation Controller editor allowing to drag invalid element from bottom of list.

Substance: Fixed a regression where valid runtime cache data would not be used and ProceduralTextures would be needlessly recomputed.
Substance: ProceduralTextures are no longer corrupted when switching color space in the editor.
Substance: ProceduralTextures are no longer corrupted when switching the masterTextureLimit in the editor.
Substance: Textures generated from a runtime cloned ProceduralMaterial now have the proper alpha channel.

The following are changes and fixes to 5.0 features and regressions…

Change

GetComponent(string) that was removed in an earlier Unity5 beta, is now back.

Improvement

GI: Terrain GI baking is now optimized:
Terrain is split into smaller chunks when baking. Chunk size (in world space size) can be specified for TerrainData in Lightmapping window;
Default value of “Scale In Lightmap” for terrain is now set to 0.128. Default EnlightenSystemBuildParameter for terrain is W.I.P. At the moment please use one with Resolution set to around 0.1.
Merging: Support for detecting and breaking transform hierarchy cycles after merge.
Reflection Probes: default reflection which is baked from skybox material (in RenderSettings) is now baked asynchronously, you can also take snapshots of it, if On Demand mode is selected in lightmapping window.
ReflectionProbes: Added new API, Renderer.closestReflectionProbe, which will return the probe used by this renderer
ReflectionProbes: When clicking Bake in ReflectionProbe component, Unity will prompt a scene save dialog if the scene isn’t saved instead of showing the error.
SpeedTree: Large tree meshes with more than 65535 vertices can be imported now. They will be automatically split into smaller parts.

Known issues

GI: Currently only square terrain can be baked with default chunk size (500). To work around, please specify chunk size bigger than the terrain size like 5000.
